NDIS Supported Independent Living

NDIS Supported Independent Living (SIL) in Melbourne

Living independently and making choices about where to live, work, and spend time is an aspiration many of us share. However, for people with disabilities, making these choices can be challenging. This is where SEWA steps in. We help individuals with their daily support needs while helping them develop valuable skills.

As a registered NDIS Supported Independent Living provider, we assist participants across Melbourne and surrounding suburbs, including Cranbourne, Narre Warren, and Clyde. Our goal is to help individuals live as independently as possible by offering tailored, round-the-clock support. We collaborate closely with you, your family, and your carers to fully understand your needs and ensure we provide the best possible support.

What is NDIS Supported Independent Living?

NDIS SIL in Berwick is designed to assist individuals with disabilities in achieving greater independence in their daily lives.  It provides ongoing support for daily tasks, enabling participants to live as independently as possible while receiving necessary assistance from qualified staff. SIL can include help with personal care, meal preparation, household chores, and skill development. It does not include rent, groceries, or supports covered by other plan categories.

As a part of the Core Supports category, people can access this service whether they live alone or in a group accommodation. The amount of NDIS SIL funding depends on the level of support required to live independently, ranging from low to high needs. This ensures that each participant receives the right level of care tailored to their circumstances.

Who Can Access SIL Support?

To access SIL support, individuals must meet specific eligibility criteria outlined by the NDIS. Here are the key requirements:

Participants must be aged 18 years or older.

  • Disability Impact:

Individuals must have a disability that significantly affects their ability to live independently, which may include physical, intellectual, sensory, or psychosocial disabilities.

  • Support Needs:

Applicants should require ongoing support in multiple areas of daily life, most or all of the time. This includes assistance with personal care, household tasks, cooking, shopping, transportation, and social interaction.

A Functional Assessment Report (FAR) conducted by an Allied Health professional is necessary to demonstrate the level of support needed.
